What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a universal strength and conditioning program that incorporates High Intensity, Functional Movements that are Constantly Varied with the stated goal of improving fitness. The CrossFit XR program is designed with global scalability to make it suitable for all ages and physical conditions. What does all of that mean?

Functional Movements are universal motor patterns that mimic human movement in everyday life. Movements such as lunges, squats, push, pull, are all movements based on real-world situations. The movements are multi-joint in nature as well as multi-planar. These movements are highly dependent on core musculature.

Constantly Varied Workouts are designed to develop, improve or optimize an individual’s competency in performing physical tasks. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program. A variety in exercises helps your body to physically develop using the 10 recognized fitness domains:

*Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance

High Intensity is exactly that! However, each individual has their own level of “high intensity”.  The “time” factor is a big part of CrossFit. When the clock starts, so does the intensity. Every athlete is responsible for knowing their limits. Coaches are also responsible for knowing an athlete’s limits and helping to ensure the athlete’s safety during any workout.

CrossFit  also improves mental fortitude. What you may have thought impossible at one time, could become reality with the support of your coaches and your fellow athletes.
